What the difference between a game mound and a platform?
Games mounds are designed for on the field game play. Platforms are designed for practicing purposes – such as batting practice and pitching.
What is the difference in the platforms?
Pitch Pro offers 3 platform models. The models 504 and the 508 are BATTTING PRACTICE platforms and used primarily behind an ‘L’ screen to toss batting practice. The Model 516 is a BULLPEN platform used for pitching. The 516 is wider and longer than the 508 (our largest batting practice platform) with a pitching rubber/ launch pad attached.
What colors does Pitch Pro offer with the platforms?
The color is the gel coated surface around the platform (not the turf). The stock colors are Royal Blue, Forest Green, White, Black and Red. We can provide a custom color but it will add approximately 2 weeks to the lead time and there is a $60 fee.
•Side note about Model 508 – it has been the platform used in the last 4 MLB All-Star Game Homerun Derby’s… and used in several MLB stadiums.
Do wheels come with the platforms?
The Model 516 price includes a wheel kit. The 508 and 504 wheel kits are optional.
How are the wheel kits attached?
The wheel kits attach to the back of the mound with 4 sets of bolts/nuts per wheel – Very easy to install.
Is the turf a warranty item?
No. Since turf companies will not extend warranties to ANY portable mound company, no warranty is available. The type of cleat used on mounds plays a part in turf wear.
Do the mounds/platforms come in green or other turf colors?
No. Pitch Pro believes since traditional pitching mounds are dirt and we have worked closely with our turf manufacturer to create a mound as close in color to dirt as possible.
